Effective January 1 2013, Starling Marine will take over the marine gas engine parts and service operations currently run by Gregory Poole Marine in the same building adjacent to Starling’s Morehead City Sales location on Highway 70 East. This location at 4971 Arendell Street will also continue to offer a vast stock of marine accessories such as safety equipment, lines and hardware, as well as used Caterpillar diesel parts. Gregory Poole Marine will refocus efforts on their core business of Caterpillar diesel engine sales and service through their Beaufort headquarters at the Jarrett Bay Marine Industrial Park off Highway 101.

With January’s closure of Gregory Poole’s Wilmington gas service facility on Eastwood Road, Starling will consolidate their sales and service operations to run out of their expanded Morehead location. Wilmington customers can continue to enjoy factory-trained Yamaha service through Atlantic Marine & Boats Unlimited.

Starling’s Morehead location will provide Coastal North Carolina boaters with a larger selection of new model inventory under one roof from Parker, Pursuit, Regulator and Sportsman, and ample secure storage for commuting boaters as well as those just looking for a hurricane haulout. Starling’s mobile parts and service van will deliver an extensive parts inventory, and superior repair and maintenance work by Yamaha “Star Emblem” factory-trained technicians. Honda, OMC and Mercury engines will also be serviced by Starling Marine technicians.

The Starling family’s boating ties to the waters of Carteret County spans decades, and they are committed to giving back to the region that has provided their family with friendships and experiences that transcend their generations. “We are excited about bringing our Summer Celebration fundraiser to the Crystal Coast,” commented Bryan Starling. “Raising funds for local families in need through the Summer Celebration, supporting education through scholarships as we do with the ECU Pirate Club Parker Boat Raffle, and helping others get the most out of boating through our Fishing School seminars are just a few of the ways we will continue to show our dedication to our customers and community.”

Earlier this month, Starling Marine hosted their annual Summer Celebration fundraiser for the family of Heather Pope Foster. Raising the most money in the event’s history – thanks to the overwhelming support of the Wilmington community and businesses, Starling Marine is overjoyed to present a check for $18,000 to benefit the Foster Family.

The Summer Celebration fundraising festivities included a dinner catered by MOI, an auction of over 100 items, more than 800 event t-shirts sold across the United States, and a one-day family fishing tournament in Wrightsville Beach.

Bryan Starling commented, “We raised more money this year than ever before – and by a long shot. It was a great event with approximately 425 guests attending the dinner & auction, and just under 30 boats fishing in the tournament. We are humbled by the number of people that joined us in celebrating Heather, and are especially thankful for everyone who volunteered and donated to make this year’s Summer Celebration the best ever.”

About Heather Pope Foster

Heather Pope Foster of Wilmington, NC recently lost her battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer. When Heather was 23 weeks pregnant in January of this year, she learned that she was in an advanced stage of this fierce disease. She started chemotherapy immediately, but this did not improve her condition. So on February 19, Elizabeth Rae was welcomed into the world weighing only 2Ibs. 14 oz. Heather started intense radiation therapy immediately after Elizabeth was born, but she could not get ahead of the disease. The Foster family’s strong faith has provided them with enormous strength and courage during this difficult time. They are extremely grateful for the Wilmington community and the Summer Celebration sponsors rallying to celebrate the most inspirational woman they were blessed to have in their lives.

This year’s event will be a family fundraiser to benefit the Foster family. Heather Pope Foster was a local woman who lost her battle on June 2nd to Stage IV Lung Cancer. We are currently looking for donations for this year’s silent auction. We hope that your business will again donate to this important fundraiser. Put the date on your calendar so that you can join us in celebrating the life of Heather Pope Foster as well as to help raise money for her family and their medical expenses. Thank you again for your help and assistance with our new boat. You have always been great to work with in a friendly and professional way in meeting my boating needs. We “dunked” the boat on Saturday and spent about 4 hours in the water.  As you know, I have spent a lot of years with boats (all of which were in Grady White models), and I must say that this boat exceeded my expectations!

The boat really was everything you said and more as to the handling and ride for a boat this size (which is actually the smallest boat that I have owned).  We spent most of our time on the waterway and stopped for a short visit to Masonboro Island.  However, I did have to take it into the Ocean “just to see” how it would handle that, and took it out beyond the MB sea buoy with about 2/3 foot seas.  No doubt I will use it for my inshore fishing trips without any hesitation.

During all of this use, we did not have a drop of water inside the boat, so without doubt it is the driest boat I have ever owned.  I tested it with some rather large wakes from other boats in the waterway, and as “advertised”, the spray was directed behind us and not into the boat.  I feel that the F115 Yamaha power will more than serve my needs for how I will use the boat, and the engine, as you said, was indeed very quiet and “smoke free” which made Cathy very happy.
Again, thanks for your help and we are two very pleased and happy new Pioneer boat owners.
