Starling Marine is excited to join Boston Whaler in the announcement of Mercury Marine's newest outboard engine innovation: the Verado V10. With over 80 years of marine engine innovation, Mercury has continuously stunned the market with high-performance, lightweight V6 and V8 outboards followed by the industry-leading 7.6 liter, 600 horsepower V12 Verado. And now, the all-new 5.7 liter V10 Verado.

While this newest outboard borrows some advancements and technology introduced in the V12, it is not just a Verado V12 with a pair of cylinders lopped off. The clean sheet design of the V10 pushed Mercury's engineers to develop a high-output engine that was lighter, quieter, more efficient and more advanced than the competition. At 695 pounds, the new V10 bests competing outboard engine brands while offering this new power option to premium boats for both freshwater and offshore.

Boston Whaler was pleased to offer test platforms for Mercury's latest engines which are available in both 350 and 400 horsepower variants. The new V10 is not just an engine, but an entire package. Mercury developed a new gearcase boasting a tall 2.08:1 ratio, and their new Revolution X™ propeller line. These props feature a larger diameter and wider blades to provide superior handling, thrilling acceleration and great efficiency throughout the rev range.

Mercury fitted the V10 Verado with the industry’s first dual-mode 48V/12V alternator. This high-power alternator was designed to pair with Navico Group’s Fathom® e-Power System which is an integrated lithium-ion auxiliary power management system. This system allows an owner the opportunity to eliminate their generator while still powering high-draw systems like cabin and helm air conditioning and a gyro stabilizer. There's more on the horizon too, as Mercury teases the release of a new fully-electric steering system for 2023.

Mercury designed the new V10 Verado with a 26-inch mount spacing identical to their V8 line which means this new engine is compatible with today's engine mounting points and transom widths. Plus, with available shaft lengths from as low as 20 inches up to 35 inches, the V10 Verado is versatile and can be made available for most of Boston Whaler's model lines including Outrage, Realm, Vantage, Dauntless & Conquest.

Mercury Marine has invested over $2 Billion in research and development and manufacturing expansions since 2008. Their technologies and innovations have paved the way for many industry-first advancements. Mercury Marine's Director of Industrial Design, Todd Dannenberg explains, “Verado outboards deliver an experience to the customer that takes boating to a completely different level. It’s no longer just getting around, it’s a really refined, luxuriously beautiful experience. You’ll just want to be on the boat.”

Starling Marine is anxious to begin taking delivery of the first V10 Verado Boston Whaler models and we invite you to call or visit the dealership to spec your next Boston Whaler with advanced Mercury outboards!
